got a link from incandescens to a daemon matcher on the website for the upcoming Golden Compass movie (that's Northern Lights to me and you, but whatever, i'm still looking forward to it.)

what do you think? is my daemon a good match for me? click on the box and it will ask you to comment. it's a fidgety box, if you don't keep the mouse on the box it will reset the presentation until you start answering the questions.

i'm ba-a-a-a-ack!

i slept for like, two whole weeks and i feel semi-refreshed. i say semi because office person A sent a meeting request for this wednesday, for sometime between 11 and 3. i replied asking if we could meet late AM or afternoon as i have an appointment first thing. doh. needed more tea i guess!

i'm really sorry i didn't get to meet with any friends in birmingham, but i was just so out of it for most of the time. i was like, i'm just going to lie down for a minute and then wake up three hours later thinking 'wha? wha?' week 1 included a tension headache on the right side of my head, which got really really bad until the mother managed to find the cause in a horrid tight knot just under my right shoulder blade. and any time i did feel ok was taken up by the nieces, i think they were a bit disappointed that i wasn't running around like i normally did, but so was i.

i managed to transport a dozen krispy kremes of different varieties from birmingham on friday, to the office this morning, and i think they were a success! i forwarded a link to the Nutritional Info to recipients after they tucked in:

incandescens: (covers eyes) I don't think I want to know the Truth About Doughnuts.
me: You Really Don't.

i gave it another shot and managed to set up my phone on twitter, so i could send text updates. i have been sending web updates but i don't think i'll be online much over the next couple of weeks, so the only way i'll be updating is by the twittering line up there (which was set up using some nifty code offered by saima, thanks!).

oh yeah. i'm taking two weeks off and i intend to chill.

my birthday present to me will be this on a mug:

more at vimrod, and the printshop too.

the authority: what are the chances of IT getting back to me today?
me: i think it helps if you're a girl.
him: ...
me: ...
him: no, i don't see a change in the future.
me: didn't think so.

sorry.

i tried. not enough but i gave it a shot and i really can't be bothered with twitter. it's mad, because if it was around a couple of years ago the SMS freak i used to be would have been onto it. and i keep forgetting to eat, too.

sounds of the killing ground.

well, let's see. a fair has appeared in lister park so you have all these cars parked round the front, creating speed chicanes for boy racers to ignore. then there's a family down the road starting up the quad bike every half an hour. they managed to go up and down the road just the once, i think, before it died again. and then there's the little exchanges round the back. some kids were discussing their GCSE options for september:

her: there's art, music, drama...
him: yeah, they're good for fooking about!

and then there's the one i had as i headed for sister #1's:

him: bushra, what have you done with the mister? i ent seen him fer weeks!
me: i... buried him under the patio.
him: you ain't got no patio!
me: what, you didn't notice the work we had done recently?

sister #2 says i shouldn't have said that. everyone will know.

my bump is bigger than yours.

the mister and i drove down to birmingham on saturday, to pick up his sister, aka sister in law #3. she's married to brother #3, y'see. don't ask. anyway. she's due to give birth to her first child in june, and in her brightly coloured clothes looked like a perfectly shaped easter egg. i whined about it to sister #1 later, 'where's my bump? i want a bump!' sister #5 said i looked normal, except that maybe i've eaten a pizza or two. anyway:

sister in law #3: so are you drinking lots of water?
me: i am now, but it was lots of coke before that.
her: you're not supposed to drink coke. you're going to have a difficult labour.
me: hmm.
her: and you've had your 20 week scan?
me: yes.
her: and you've been taking your folic acid?
me: yes.
her: and you've got your pregnancy record?
me: yes...

as we all get settled in the car:

me: you do know how to put your seat belt on around your bump, don't you?
her: ummmm, no.

i decided to check if the intranet had been updated with the new maternity rights, but no. so i emailed the author. only to get an out of office message. she was on maternity leave. but HR will be getting back to me on it.
